Alex Kennon Shahin

Alexandra Kennon Shahin is an author, journalist, editor, theatre artist, and communications professional who has devoted her career to documenting and sharing her home state of Louisiana's rich culture. She is the current Managing Editor of 64 Parishes, the award-winning quarterly magazine on Louisiana culture and history published by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities. Previously she served as Arts & Entertainment Editor of the award-winning monthly regional culture magazine Country Roads, where she continues to contribute writing and photographs documenting the music, art, cuisine, history, and environment of the Gulf South. Her book Classic Restaurants of New Orleans, published by Arcadia Publishing/The History Press in 2019, chronicles the history, recipes, and lore of thirteen of New Orleans' most storied dining institutions, and includes one of “Queen of Creole Cuisine” Chef Leah Chase’s final interviews.

Kennon Shahin holds degrees in Journalism/Communication and Theatre Arts from Loyola University New Orleans, and has performed in numerous theatre and film productions, including as the title character in the world premiere of Tennessee Williams' play Ivan's Widow. She previously led historical and cultural tours of New Orleans, for which she was consistently recognized as a top-rated tour guide on TripAdvisor.
